Waterford's Medieval Museum, situated in oldest part of the city, called Viking Triangle, presents interesting and colorful history of the first city in Ireland. The museum's building contains two medieval structures within its walls, 13th century Chorister's Hall and 15th century Mayor’s Wine Vault. The modern and interactive exhibitions covers the Waterford's history from 1096 to 1690 and include huge collection of unique medieval props. Amongs the most remarkable exhibits of the museum are: The Great Charter Roll of Waterford dating from 1373, regarded as one of the great treasures of late medieval Ireland; Waterford's Cloth of Gold Vestment (made of Italian silk woven in Florence and embroidered in Bruges) dating from the 1460s, which presents various scenes from the Bible and the life of the Virgin Mary; The sword which was given to the Mayor of Waterford by Edward IV of England in 1462; King Henry VIII’s Cap of Maintenance (hat made from Italian velvet) and sword. The Museum has received many important awards and with no doubt it is one of the most worth to visit museum in Ireland.
